Using Human Psychology to Help Horses
The minds and brains of humans are remarkably diverse. This means the way we see and interact with the world and the horses and humans within it, will differ slightly from person to person. However despite our individual differences, humans share many psychological characteristics and having some knowledge of what these are, and how they may be influenced by our own unique character and experience can help us to see our horses in a new way so we can better support them to lead good lives with us.
In this webinar Nicola will:
explain some key psychological principles which we can apply to our relationships with our horses
explore some of the most recent advances in horse-human interaction research
discuss how we can positively shape the way we approach the equines in our lives in a practical way
After the presentation, Nicola will answer questions from the audience.
This webinar is aimed at horse owners, trainers, therapists, and equine professionals.
MEET THE PrESENTERS
NICOLA GREGORY
Dr Nicola Gregory is a Principal Academic in Psychology at Bournemouth University whose research explores how we look at other people – and what our looking behaviour reveals about how we understand their thoughts, feelings and intentions.
Using eye-tracking technology, Nicola studies attention and social understanding in everyday, real-world situations. Her work examines how these processes vary between individuals, including people with autism, social anxiety and other conditions that can affect social cognition. She also researches how people interpret facial expressions in both humans and animals, including the recognition of pain in horse and human faces.
